Owen Gray | Bio

 

Based in Southeast Queensland (Maleny), Owen has been performing professionally as a pianist/vocalist throughout Australia and New Zealand. Just prior to this extensive touring and performing, he was awarded the title of "1984 Nth Queensland Entertainer of the Year".

 

This award prompted him to move to Brisbane where he had further private instrument tuition from world acclaimed pianists and vocal tuition from a Mr. Jack White, who has taught the likes of John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John and John St Peter.

 

Some highlights of Owen's career have been playing alongside top national and international acts such as; RENEE GEYER (opening act 2004 tour @ The Tivoli Theatre, Brisbane), JOE CAMILLERI & THE BLACK SORROWS (support act @ Nambour Civic Centre), BROTHER GOOSE (featuring Big & Little Goose, the legendary rhythm section from blues band CHAIN), JAMES BLUNDELL (Owen's album 'MUMBO JUMBO' is signed to his record label REVENGE RECORDS), DIG, CHARLEY PRIDE, KATE CEBERANO, BULLAMAKANKA, JOHN WILLIAMSON, PETER PAUL & MARY and REDGUM.

 

Owen has also performed at some of Australia's premiere venues and festivals such as; Woodford Folk Festival (Blues Tent), Charters Towers Country Music Festival, The Tivoli Theatre, Sunshine Coast Blues Festival, Nambour Civic Centre, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Gympie Muster (supporting artist Luella Widt).

 

The future will see Owen concentrating on building upon his current catalogue of musicals and original music whilst developing teaching programs for the VET sector. These teaching programs will be focussed on instrument development for piano and guitar, musical theory and live performance skills.
